We believe that properties for inclusion on this website should be accessible to all with reduced mobility. This includes the elderly, the infirm, those with impaired hearing, impaired vision and those requiring a wheelchair.
It is important to note that this site is not designed to audit or “rate” the accessible facilities available at accommodation establishments. Its sole purpose is to provide centralised information for travellers with reduced mobility, impaired vision or impaired hearing.
We feel that it is also important to note that some accommodation providers who claim they are “accessible” - and who are therefore included on this website - may not in actual fact be accessible.
We do, however, understand that it is impossible for some establishments to be 100% compliant with the New Zealand guidelines. As a result we have introduced a system to indicate the number of accessible facilities that can be found at each establishment.
The blue indicators shown below can be found in each directory listing. They act as a sliding scale and are only intended as an initial measure of the number of accessible facilities available at each property. A detailed list of those facilities can be viewed on the establishment’s profile page by clicking on the blue “more information” button adjacent to each listing.
