IMPORTANT: Listing your accessible facilities

This site is not designed to audit or rate the accessible facilities available at accommodation establishments.

Its sole purpose is to provide centralised and accurate information for travellers with reduced mobility, impaired vision or impaired hearing.

To do this, we rely on the information entered in to the facilities checklist by you - the proprietor - during the registration process.

Remember, the number of accessible facilities you provide is irrelevant - it is simply the fact that your establishment considers the infirm or those with disabilities and caters for them in some way. This information is important to users of this site, and it is your presence on this website that will enable those users to target your accommodation more easily and with a greater understanding of the accessibile facilities you provide.

What are the benefits of registering?

Regardless of which of the listing options you choose,

your accommodation will receive considerable focussed exposure to this increasing market - a market that is often overlooked by the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Set up fees are included in the annual subscription and we

offer certain features free of charge. We can even discuss

bespoke embellishments to the enhanced listing option should you wish to add extra photos, video or perhaps a downloadable e-brochure in pdf format.

The facts and figures opposite speak for themselves and Accomobility.co.nz is already attracting attention from the tourism and disability sectors and has been favourably reviewed as a long-awaited and much-needed resource.

So... what more reason do you need to sign up?

Accommodation Providers’ Area

10% of the world’s population have a disability and that figure includes 17% of New Zealand’s population.

Almost half of all visitors to New Zealand are 45 years old or more. As people age, they experience more disability.

The 45+ age group spend a greater percentage of their discretionary income on travelling than any other market segment.

Those with disabilities tend to travel with more support companions who will have their own individual accommodation needs.

People with disabilities can be extremely technologically aware. They are well served by on-line information sites about access tourism in other countries. However, there is currently no one-stop shop providing information about accessible accommodation throughout

New Zealand

(Rhodda, 2008).
